Birks Building co-location

The co-locate site is the historic Birks Building located on the corner of Jasper and 104St. in Edmonton. The building is just steps away from both bus and light rail transit as well as several parking lots. The building is a designated historic site and has undergone extensive renovations, but has ample room for expansion as well in offices yet to be renovated.

TNC has a 2.3Mb/sec. SDSL feed from Group Telecom and a backup cable modem feed for secondary DNS and testing from Shaw Cable. The shared co-located facility is well air-conditioned and has numerous windows that overlook Jasper Avenue. TNC has installed a separate power panel which allows co-locators their own breaker.Furniture for desktop servers as well as rack space is available. The room is monitored for both fire and break-in by Telsco Security.

The ante-room has room for small meetings and for client demonstrations and there is a kitchenette with coffee and snacks.

Co-location permits numerous advantages over private network feeds. Foremost is the excellent technical support provided by TNC staff. Many of TNC's technical people have over 20 years of networking background. Second the SDSL feed is faster than ADSL feeds, especially in the critical upload direction needed for servers vs client usage. Co-location can also be used for secure duplication or disaster recover facilities.

TNC can provide firewall solutions, or place you within our firewall perimeter providing added network security at NO additional cost. We also have good relationships with two domain registration agencies, CA-Registrar and Horizon, and we will be pleased to register and host domains for our clients.

As TNC is also an ISP, we can offer IP expansion and full multi-homed DNS facilities, not only with our dual feeds but also in our association with Horizon Net of Victoria ( http://www.horizon.bc.ca ). For those wishing duel facilities we can arrange for true multi-homing by having your servers dual co-located in both Edmonton and Victoria!

Bottom line, we think you will find us both knowledgeable and hospitable in the best of the Alberta tradition.
